The steamer Oceana carried Dr J J Nicola of Attleboro Mass who vanished during the voyage from Bermuda. A search of the ship found no trace of the doctor who shared a stateroom with H H Curtis and was last seen at an early hour this morning.
Special to The Washington Port Philadelphia reports that Harry W. Coleman of the National Bureau of Botany searched for a black rose but found a perfect blue rose at West Grove, a suburb. He will report the discovery to the Agricultural Department in Washington.
St. Louis woman Elizabeth Coste, engaged to Tada A. Francis, is the fourth library staffer in a month to wed into a wealthy family. Francis is the fourth son of David R. Francis, former Secretary of the Interior.
Three aviators volunteer to fly over insurgent and federal lines near Juarez to test aeroplanes in war conditions. Lieut Benjamin Foulois will patrol the border with Wight aircraft under War Department orders, reporting neutrality infractions to Washington. The Aeronautical Reserve of New York loans planes, with plans for more, to evaluate aerial scouting usefulness along the border.
Special to The Washington Jows reports John B. Gaynor and Benjamin D. Greene, convicted with Capt Oberlin M. Carter in Savannah harbor frauds, have completed four years in prison yet remain to settle a 375000 fine. The government alleges they hid much of the embezzled money and will not be allowed a pauper's oath, risking perjury if they swear off the fines.

In Atlantic City on Peb 6 Harry Wilson, a young husband, removed his wife’s slipper and used it to spank her after a quarrel on the street. Lee Wilson intervened, grabbed the slipper, and beat ceased by police and bystanders. The wife objected to rescuers punching the husband as he was taken into custody.
Atlantic City reports Postmaster Richard L. Ashhurst of Philadelphia, missing for a week, sent a message last Monday indicating preparation for a trip. Federal agents confirm the mind was normal, and investigators seek the recipient to learn the reason for the planned absence. Fred Nelson of the secret service says Ashhurst is not drowned and likely disappeared for personal reasons.

Rifaat Pasha ordered an abolition of the boycott, but officials doubt it will take effect.
