Harbert O Manley formerly of 307 East Capitol street northeast claims to have hidden his $150000 fortune in a wooden leg when he left New York for Alaska. He says ten years ago he quit as a street car conductor to seek Klondike riches, found success in Dawson City, lost a leg in 1906, and later sold a mine claim for $30000 before returning to the United States. He keeps the roll beneath his pillow and warns against being “pulled” by city temptations even as he travels north with his concealed wealth.
