Traders Use Caution in IBM Underside Trading

The New York market today showed dull, irregular price movement with total dealings just over 600,000 shares. Major gains appeared in Amalgamated Copper, Southern Pacific, Reading, Baltimore and Ohio, Atchison, and Great Northern with declines in Northern Pacific, Union Pacific, United States Steel, St. Paul, Brooklyn Rapid Transit, and Pennsylvania. The day carried a firm undertone despite cautious sentiment as funds recede and Cassatt’s death looms, with Reading the most active stock and Atchison leading in gains. End of day showed strength but guarded by money-rate fears and cautious January expectations.
