MONCHEUR CALLS ON ROOT OVER CONGO MATTERS

Belgian Minister Aaron Moncheur called on Secretary Root after six weeks to discuss Congo affairs while in mourning for his daughter. Root reportedly assured there would be no action in Congo while the Belgian Parliament reviews the matter. Also presented to Secretary Root was Uruguay's new minister Donlala Metian Lafinur, with Bermudez accompanying. he will meet the President in the first January week.

District Attorney may compel witnesses in Culpeper case

Culpeper Virginia December 27 District Attorney Baker stated the office has authority to summon witnesses for the prosecution of physicians accused of an illegal operation on Viola Strother Bywaters. He underscored that witnesses can be compelled and has previously brought Pacific Coast witnesses when necessary.

Woman Cuts Her Throat in West 338th Street Apartment

Mrs Anna Klincke Hart fifty two, wife of a wealthy retired druggist, cut her throat with a carving knife in her West 338th street apartment. She died two hours later. Despondent for some time, police and coroner say it was self inflicted. She is sister of Charles Ebert, an Harlem Savings Bank officer. Husband Richard Klinckehart is well to do, having retired from a profitable drug business.

Bryan considered as a presidential candidate at next convention

In Topeka on December 27 William J. Bryan hinted he might seek the Democratic presidential nomination at the forthcoming national convention. He said he had not announced a candidacy nor stated he would not run, calling the nomination a high honor no citizen should decline. He rejected claims he would back Senator Stone of Missouri as DNC chairman if nominated.

Meridian dispatch reports Scooba residents appealed to Gov. Vardaman, sending 20 Jackson soldiers under Adjt. Gen. Arthur Fridge to police the town after a racial massacre. Forged Notes Tied to Bank Rediscounts in Pennsylvania

Examiner Cumning lem uncovered $200 000 in forged notes among $1 040 009 rediscounted paper tied to the defunct Farmers and Drovers National Bank of Warnenburg Pennsylvania. Cashier J B F Rinehart posted $1 000 bail on forgery charges after forging signatures on a $5 000 director note. five of eight clerks were related to him and dismissed as the investigation proceeds. An assistant traveled to Baltimore to inquire about rediscounted notes held by banks there.

Injured by Runaway Wagon at Seventh and B Streets

Robert E. Stone, an elderly Pennsylvania Railroad employee at Long Bridge, was struck by a runaway delivery wagon from W. H. Hoska at Seventh and B streets southwest yesterday morning. He suffered a fractured left leg and brain concussion, condition critical, and was taken to Emergency Hospital. Driver George Waugh tried to stop the horse. the wagon demolished a tree, the horse was hurt, and Waugh escaped with minor injuries.

Cardozo Trial Preparations Advance as Charges Soon Ready

The board of education plans to serve formal charges against Francis L. Cardozo, the colored supervise principal of the Thirteenth district, after a conference today between Admiral Baird and Assistant District Attorney Stuart McNamara. The board, aiming to conclude the incident early in the new year, reinstated Cardozo following a district supreme court order. Supt. Chanveller departed for New York for several days.

Bradley seeks to break Brown will in Salt Lake

George P Hoover, attorney for Mrs. Anna M Bradley, says he will not take part in the will contest aiming to overturn Senator Brown's will. Soldier Attacked Woman Near Rock Inland Station

A negro soldier from the Twenty-Atth Infantry attacked Mrs. T.8. Clifford and her sister near the Rock Inland station in Reno Oklahoma prompting great excitement and lynching threats. Inquiry at Brownsville investigates riot by soldiers
