Market ethics and verse as value in Harper's Weekly excerpt
The text argues that refusing payment for verse signals virtue but risks undermining market norms, noting public admiration for sellers of goods and political praise in Massachusetts. It questions whether unmarketed poetry harms professional poets and reflects on by product costs in poetry. It contrasts with Country Life in America on rubber plant remedies, advising proper soil, light, and dust removal over dubious treatments.
