Oppose Maryland Avenue Track Crossings Protest

R Harrison Johnson, chair of the Southwest Citizens Association railroad committee, objects to District Commissioners granting permission for four temporary tracks across Maryland Avenue between Ninth and Temth streets and Ninth and C streets southwest. He cites danger to life and limbs, risks to children, existing numerous grade crossings, and increased smoke, cinders, and noise. He argues the plan would crowd front doors and amount to private property confiscation, noting a past fatal accident near Ninth Street and Maryland Avenue and alleging the railroad seeks tracks for uses beyond those stated.
