Dinner at Raleigh Honors McKinley Aids With Unique Campaign Tableaux

Washington society attended a Raleigh Hotel dinner honoring William B. McKinley and Merican Republican Committee members. Speaker Cannon acted as toastmaster as guests including Vice President Fairbanks, Secretary Shaw, and Secretary Taft were presented. Decorations recreated a Capitol vista with a giant moss map of the United States, orange trees in bloom, and a long table bordered by box trees. Menu cards mimicked a campaign text book with cartoon fills from Herryman and Roosevelt branding, while cartoons lampooned figures like Cannon and McKinley. The menu listed items such as Project tion and The Pure Food Bills, with courses tied to campaign themes.
