Shotgun law looms as Chevy Chase loses charter
Chevy Chase Maryland residents fear rabies and burglary without a town charter. With the charter abolished the mayor and constable lack authority to enforce laws, prompting talk of arming the community to muzzle or kill unmuzzled dogs. Four dogs have already been killed under prior provision while about 50 have been exposed to rabies. A child treated for dog bite underscores the danger. A petition seeks disbursement of town funds as the fight over incorporation ends.
