Light Plant Proposed in Hyattsville
At a special Hyattsville meeting the mayor and council received an opinion from Corporation Counsel Robert W. Wells on the council’s authority to grant Potomac Electric and Power Company permission to erect poles and string wires for electric current. The opinion largely opposes the utility, but Wells suggests temporary electrification to worship spaces due to coal explosion risks. The council approved the view and discussed costs of a municipal lighting plant and bonds to fund it, with a bill for a legislative authorization likely for a March referendum and possible special election.
