Choir Born in Stable Becomes Washington Heights Church Icon

The Washington Heights Presbyterian Church choir grew from a handful of children taught in Col Truesdell’s barn to a thriving vocal ensemble led by devoted women. Mrs Clara Bliss Finley initiated the effort, aided by Mrs Sheppard and Mrs Oldberg, with later leadership by Mrs Noyes and Mrs Robinson. The group featured soloists such as Mrs Thomas De Noyes and Mrs Leila Livingston Morse, building a reputation through love for music and community. The article credits the women with founding and sustaining the choir and church music.
