Five Die In Potomac Regatta Launch Disaster
Ten men and four women drowned when the Recreation capsized during the Potomac regatta near Georgetown. Four others were rescued. Bodies were recovered, identified, and taken to the Georgetown police station as crews worked against strong currents. The Recreation, owned by Dr. Charles A. Stewart and Dr. Charles W. Wagner, sank after striking the mill stream current near Thirty third Street as races continued.

He was severely injured, in unstable condition, with a note citing fear of insanity and lack of health. Mrs Ada Richardson wife of a Methaed farmer was stabbed to death in a South End lodging house by William Clark who fled. Clark later died at Lawrence General Hospital from knife wounds and paris green poison after fleeing toward Methuen. He was found dying in underbrush near his father’s home. The motive remains unknown though 75 is noted among her effects.
