State Senator Wilson III Health Casts Shadow on Nomination
Aug 12 Hyattsville Independent reports State Senator Joseph Wilson of this county suffers from liver enlargement and general system breakdown. He has stayed with his sister in Baltimore and may not endure a strenuous congressional campaign. Doctors warn rest is essential, making a Wilson nomination unlikely. Potential replacements include A P Gorman Jr or Dr Charles A Wells, with Wells unlikely to accept. Robert W Wells, his son, said he would not interfere unless health prevents Wilson opposing Mudd, then Wells might be named at the Baltimore convention next September.

Interstate Commerce Commission Re Detailing Fruit Car Refrigeration Rates
The Interstate Commerce Commission ruled refrigeration charges on Pere Marquette and Michigan Central fruit shipments exorbitant and in violation of federal law. It urged readjustment by rail and car lines, noting past free or low-cost icing and current exclusive contracts that raise costs 60 to 150 percent. The decision requires reasonable, published refrigeration charges and cites common carrier duties.
