Westbound wheat rates fall as Maryland grain ships west

Baltimore wheat markets show unprecedented movement as Maryland and Virginia grown grain is sent to New England and Midwest points. Freight reductions by railroads from Baltimore to Ohio River trunk lines enable westward shipments despite initial rate obstacles. Strong demand from Central Tric Association mills and rust-affected harvests in Minnesota and the Dakotas drive prices and supply, with Chicago absorbing less Maryland grain than Baltimore.

Silver Ore in Maryland Short Line Railroad to Be Built to Tap Mining Property

Silver and copper ore in paying quantities is said to have been discovered in eastern Allagany County Maryland. The find stems from a long guarded tale of gunsmith John son who mounted his silver on weapons and died without revealing the mine. Copper miner H Clay Robinette from Phoenix Ariz. traced the site to his old home and aid that both metals exist in paying quantities. Capitalists have bought land and plan a town named Long. A route for a short line railroad is being surveyed to connect with the Wabash system at Cherry Run W Va, linking West Virginia Central to Western Maryland.
