In Chadwick Missouri today merchant Charles Freeman and 18 year old Robert Keene killed each other with revolvers after a prior accusation Freeman had made against Keene regarding his daughter. Farmer Kills Friend at East Vineland Birthday Party

In East Vineland on August 8 Alexander Cordella, fifty, a farmer, killed neighbor Nicholas Berti, thirty, at a birthday gathering. Cordella, an uninvited guest, shot Berti after a dispute as friends pursued him. he was captured after a manhunt led by deputies and locals. Cordella, awaiting jail, asked for a knife or revolver and stated he did not want to be hanged.

Death at Colonial Beach Doe Nineteen Year Old Drowns

George Colton Burch sixteen of Bl. D Street Southeast drowned in the Potomac at Colonial Beach while a party from Bathers on the steamer St Johns watched. He and two companions were diving from a row boat when he vanished beneath water not over his head. Two hours of searching failed to bring him to surface before the body was recovered. His sister, also in the crowd, swooned in the surf and was revived after removal to the beach. The tragedy cast a damp gloom over a planned weekend for the Burch family and the Washington party, including J. B. Burch, assistant superintendent of Prudential Life Insurance.
