Miller and Shanks Fired From Printery After Letters

Former foremen Miller and Shanks were dismissed by Public Printer Stillings amid union concerns and alleged noncompliance. Prominent Washington figure E G Farrell dies after illness

E G Farrell a long time Washington resident and former Hartford labor leader died at his residence on H22 B street northeast after a year of declining health following pneumonia. A lawyer and former copy editor at the Government Printing Office, he held several union and fraternal posts and leaves a widow and three children. Funeral from his home to the Church of the Holy Comforter.

Grand Windthorst Club Tournament At Benning Track

A grand tournament with barbecue and ball will be hosted by the Windthorst Club of St Mary's Parish on Tuesday August 21 at Benning race track. Twenty five riders compete under Chief Marshal William P Magruder with judges and time keeper and prize list including sixty dollars in gold for first, harness set for second, saddle and bridle for third, and other gear for the remaining places. Proceeds support St Mary's school building fund.

Building Boom Continues As July Permits Rise

July sees 451 building permits issued with total costs of 988 461 down from 1 2 million in June and 1 3 million in May. Major activity centers northwest with 827 400 spent on structures including eighty two large dwellings and forty four frame dwellings along with stores, apartments, a power station and ware houses among others.

Adams Road dispute and Georgetown street upgrades debated

Commissioners said the Adams fill road lies within Zoological Park bounds and District jurisdiction ends over certain streets. A police watch will monitor speeding after dark, with a Tenth precinct bicycle officer on duty until 11. Building permits were issued for three projects in Georgetown and two houses in other wards, with costs listed. Local health official urged street improvements for public safety.

Alleged Bigamist Held by Justice After Confrontations

John Lansdafle colored of 2007 eighth street northwest held for the grand jury under $500 bond by Justice Kimball yesterday. Lansdafle pleaded not guilty. Complaining witnesses Mary Lansdale of Craig I street and Carrie Lansdale declare they were married to him.
