Special to The Washington Post from Charleston on April 4 reports Tom Watson of Georgia sparring with a Pullman porter and conductor aboard a Southern Railway car. After a heated exchange Watson struck the porter, breaking the worker’s facewear, prompting delays until Watson’s friends intervened and the train moved on.
Three men died and one was badly injured when a fast Texas and Pacific passenger train plunged into an open switch near Cheneyville Louisiana around 1 to 2 AM. The wreckage burned the mail baggage express cars and two coaches. Victims include engineer John Covington and fireman Michael Kass of New Orleans plus an unidentified man. Empress Messenger William Kough also suffered severe burns. Investigators found a broken switch lock, turned switch, and discarded signal lantern. A railroad inquiry is underway.
Cincinnati surgeon Dr Earl P Achley describes being blindfolded and chauffeured to a richly furnished room where a severely wounded man lies with a near fatal throat wound. A beautiful woman assists as the doctor dresses the wound and is then blindfolded again and returned home for a large fee. The patient’s identity and the house location remain unknown.
Miss Anna Greenwood aged twenty nine was killed by electricity while using the telephone at her home. An examination showed a slight burn on the wrist and an electric switch touching the light caused the current to pass through her body into the telephone instrument. After dinner she stepped to telephone a mend and turned on the light directly above the phone. The lights went out instantly and she collapsed. her father found her dead.
Special Cable from Madrid reports that the cathedral relic from Tortosa has been placed in the Queen's oratory in the royal apartments for her delivery. The girdle, blessed by the Pope, is believed to aid a safe birth, with the hat and infant robe to be sent by Count Honorati to Cardin al Rinaldi. The Queen remains in excellent health and attends a public concert.

Also Havana reports Private Harry C Col lina of the Eleventh Cavalry was killed when thrown from his horse.
James H Eckels former Comptroller of the Currency and president of the Commercial National Bank Chicago died at his home of organic heart disease. He was 36 years old and news of his death reached his wife and daughter in Paris. The funeral is planned for Tuesday at Fourth Presbyterian Church with an oration by Rev Notman. Eckels held diverse business stakes including Hewitt Manufacturing and the Bankers Trust of New York. He served under Grover Cleveland from 1893 to 1897 and was a Democrat advocating the gold standard. His death followed a breakfast party planned for friends and relatives with Cleveland and others in attendance earlier that year.
Alfred Ravello, 23, was shot and killed at his home by Joseph Dalrego, sister’s fiancé, who had obtained a license to marry Miss Ravello. Dalrego f demanded an early wedding. Ravello intervened and was slain when Dalrego fired three shots at the woman. the killer was seized by the father.

Berlin April 14 The funeral of Herr Auer, a Reichstag member who died last Wednesday, drew about fifty thousand socialists and Reichstag members. Socialist leader Herr Bebel and others delivered orations at the grave.
President Roosevelt hosted an informal dinner at the White House with notable attendees including Attorney General Bonaparte Secretary Caffeld Postmaster General Meyer Justice Holmes Justice Moody Chief Foster Pinchot and Indian Commissioner Leupp attending the event.
Special to The Washington Post Clifton Forge Virginia April 14 Mrs Ad die Long of Indianapolis was forcibly ejected from a Chesapeake and Ohio Pullman sleeper after creating a disturbance. Taken to the station house in a patrol wagon she remained in jail denying involvement with the Daughters of the American Revolution. She appeared attractive and French in appearance but offered no statement as officers described violent resistance before her removal.
Special to The Washington Post reports Arthur Stringer aboard a Costa Rica railway expedition says Joseph Gordon, the Jamaican outlaw, shot two railway workers and attacked the railway, then was ambushed and killed on March 3. He died the following Sunday from his wounds.
An explosion on the dredge George W allen at Key West caused two deaths, Jose Amdo and Manuel Agrag, and badly scalded four others. Eight injured in total as a boiler tube bursts and steam blasts open furnace doors while workers slept.
