Roosevelt Loses Second Test At Republican Convention
Chicago June 24 The Roosevelt forces suffer a 564 to 510 defeat as they attempt to oust 92 Taft delegates and seat Roosevelt adherents. The fight shifts to the credentials committee where Roosevelt losses persist in a two to one Taft majority.

Acrobatics on a runaway horse causes accident on East Third Street
An umbrella delivery mounted a horse and caused a runaway accident on East Third Street. A bystander leaped onto the horse, jumped astride, and halted the frightened animal as it moved along Van Trees Street.

J Madison Walsh, a local attorney and member of the Woodmen of the World, delivered the memorial address at joint services held Sunday afternoon by Washington Camp Woodmen of the World and the Woodman's Circle at the K of C hull. Committees from both lodges visited county cemeteries to decorate members' graves.
Lightning Strikes Farm Tree Injures Horses and Kills One
A storm's lightning bolt struck a catalpa tree on Dr. R. M. Smiley's Troy road farm south of the city. The tree near the house and barn blinded and deafened three horses, and one horse was killed in the lightning shock.

Wrecker Cleans Up Vincennes Track Wreck
The B and O Southwestern wrecking crew was called to Vincennes Saturday morning to clear a small wreck at the Sixth Street crossing. Two tied cars jumped the rails and tore up a stretch of track. No through trains were delayed.

Pike County Telephone Damage From Sunday Storm
Reports from Petershurz describe heavy losses for Pike County Telephone Company as hundreds of telephones were destroyed by the storm. A dynamo at the electric works burnt, plunging the city into darkness. Lightning damaged barns owned by Jacob Windy and George Vincent with about 550 dollars in losses each. Reports say much stock was killed. The Central Union Telephone Company reports little damage locally.

The St Simons academy annual recital Tuesday night featured students and instructors in a vocal and instrumental program. Performances included piano violins mandolin cello and chorus with pieces by Liszt Weber Delibes and more and celebrated the Sisters of Provisioner for their training.
