Deaths of the Inty and Vincennes death notices

Indiana Republicans Set Key Dates for 1908 Reorganization

The Indiana State Republican Committee met to approve dates for reorganization steps for the 1908 campaign. Precinct caucus dates were set January 10–11, county committees January 13, district chairmen January 14, and state committee reorganization January 16 in Indianapolis.

Roosevelt declines to run for president again

Theodore Roosevelt states he will not be a candidate for a further nomination. Transfer of priest assignments at St. Dennis church

The Catholic Columbian Record reports Rev William Garrity is sent to St Dennis after serving as assistant to Rev Victor Schnell in Terre Haute. Rev James B Delaney also moves, transferring from St Patrick’s in Decatur County as part of the assignment.

Injunction Suit Filed Over City Electric Plant Sale

A Daviess circuit court injunction suit seeks to halt a city council sale of the electric light plant. Plaintiffs include J. via J. W. McCarty and F. X. Rel M. J. Hayes among others, with Padgett & Padgett and Ogden & Inman representing them. The voluminous complaint claims the plant, bought in 1900 by Washington Light and Water Co., is operated by the city and a stock sale would mean disposition of the plant itself.

City Seeks Bids With Judge Gardiner Representing

Respected Washington woman Maria Sanford dies at home

Mrs Maria Sanford a native of Daviess county and longtime Washington resident dies at her east Walnut street home after a cancer battle. Born March 9 1841 on a nearby farm she married William Sanford in 1859 and leaves several children and siblings including John Graham Shanks Willis Graham and Mrs Moses Alsten. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church.

Doings in Circuit Court Delivers Several Verdicts

In Daviess circuit court a verdict for the defendant was returned in Ridge against Hubbs after a short deliberation. Stoy v Stoy saw a sixteen hour jury run before a verdict for the defendant on a jewelry shipment collection. Rosa Allegree’s divorce decree ordered alimony and child custody. $4 monthly payments begin January 1. The December term juries were discharged. motions to be heard Friday and Saturday. Several cases were tried, continued, or dismissed.
