Chicken Thieves Caught Near Montgomery
Louis Zinkan a farmer near Montgomery woke to noises from his chicken house found two men attempting to steal fowls. They were captured and jailed in Montgomery lockup. Squires refused to try them and charges were filed in Mayor Clark's court for trial locally.

Third Victim This Week Isaac Dunn Succumbs to Attack
Late Tuesday evening Isaac Dunn of Vincennes avenue died of smallpox. The death is the third this week and was hastened by a prior paralytic stroke leaving a wife and two children, Charles Dunn and Mrs. Jennie Williams of Barr township. Burial was at Oak Grove cemetery yesterday.

Mrs. Lulu Summers McLaughlin, about 25, died Monday evening of smallpox. A Princeton resident until recently, she married Frank McLaughlin and moved to Washington. She was the daughter of Mrs. Martha Summers and had four brothers and six sisters who mourn her loss.

Ninety Ninth Annual Baptist Association Meeting Planned
The Union Association of Baptist churches in Daviess Knox Pike and Sullivan counties plans its seventy ninth anniversary meeting at the Washington church next week. Prominent church workers will attend with Rev. S. H. Huffman and Rev. A. M. McGuire among speakers. The program runs Tuesday to Friday September 2–4 1903 with sermons, missions reports, education talks and a women’s mission session. A dinner in the High School basement will host members and visitors along with music and refreshments.

Prominent Knox County Farmer Dies at 46
John L. Stephenson a leading Knox county farmer died at his home two miles north of Wheatland after a several week illness. He was born in Knox county, son of the late Robert Stephenson, and leaves a wife and one daughter. Funeral services were held at the Wheatland Christian church with burial in Wheatland cemetery.
