Edward L. Dwyer a thrice self-described millionaire filed a bankruptcy petition in the U S district court. He cites $274 855 in fixed subduties and needs $150. Dwyer, born in Connecticut forty three years ago, later built wealth in Mexico and Chicago through land and railroads and wheat speculation. He married the Duchess De Castelluchia of New York who had large Florida orange groves and a $3 000 000 estate. After her death she left $10 to him. his wife’s will was disputed for six years before probate. He later organized mining and land ventures across the West with investors, claiming little profit. In 1910 he joined the Marine Corps at Brooklyn Navy Yard for three years, served in Manila, and received an honorable discharge after one year at the request of friends.
