More Good Roads Petition for Ten Mile Extension

A petition in Elmore township seeks ten miles of road improvement to connect with other townships. It will be filed at the May term of the County Commissioners Court on May fourth. Elmore has about eighteen miles of gravel and rock roads built last summer with good satisfaction.

Ab Brown a West End contractor sustained painful injuries after stumbling on a bridge board while carrying heavy lumber across Walnut Street and falling into Hawkins Creek. He was seen by bystanders as the accident occurred near the creek.

Tragic Fall into Ditch Causes Injuries

A man fell fifteen feet after railing collapsed into a ditch. He landed on broken bricks and glass, suffering injuries not thought serious. Nearby workers rushed to help and carried him a short distance to his home.

Odd Fellows celebrate founding anniversary in Loogootea

The Loogootea Odd Fellows lodge plans an anniversary celebration with degreed work and ceremonies in the opera house. Visiting brothers from Washington, Montgomery, Shoals, Burns City and Alfordsville will attend. Degrees will be conferred on candidates by staffs from Washington and Montgomery.

Local Band Minstrels Shine At Community Opera House Concert

Citizens Band presented a three part program at the Opera house Thursday night with minstrel, monologue, and band sections. J Alvin Padgett led the minstrel as interlocutor while Charlie Russell and John Floyd starred as end men. the program featured strong solos, a well received Mozart Choir number, and a full orchestra of ten pieces. The band concert closed the evening with popular marches and waltzes, drawing praise and a good monetary take.

Repairs Complete. Glendale and Alfordsville Line Connected

Workmen finished repairs on the Glendale and Alfordsville line as it joined the Home Telephone central in Washington on Third Street. Residents from Glendale Hudsonville Waco High Rock and Alfordsville can now talk over the line. The project directed by L Horrall may be temporary as a new city to Alfordsville line is planned, potentially abandoning the present route.
