Hagerty, his press spokesman, said Ike will assemble his records and likely address the tax returns after Democratic nominee Adlai Stevenson published ten years of returns. Fights Break Out at Harvester Plant Strikes
Fights erupted at strikebound Harvester plants in Chicago Rock Island Illinois and Richmond Indiana with arrests as police kept order. In Chicago at the McCormick works about a dozen people were taken into custody after pickets tried to block non strikers from working. Police foiled efforts to overturn a car containing nonstrikers. Rock Island saw mass picketing with several fist fights between pickets and returning workers. Fourteen officers battled disturbances as pickets shouted do not let the scabs in. In Richmond union organizer Wilbur F McNair of Detroit was arrested after allegedly threatening Bob Martin, a leader in the back to work movement, with a club.
