Sioux City reports a Tuesday hearing for Kenneth Kellison 29 charged with manslaughter operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and failing to stop and aid after Nels Strom 67 was struck. Witnesses Ed Zink and Wyman Forker pursued Kellison and accomplice Guy Pyle 50 to the police. Pyle paid a $50 fine and was released while Kellison remains jailed on $4600 bail.

Two teens die in Rockford area auto crash
Charles City reports 16 year old Richard Bahlson of Rockford was killed when two cars collided at an intersection eight miles south of Rockford. Passenger Carl Noss 16 was only slightly injured in the crash. The other car was driven by Rollie Scheimer of Dougherty with Ray Barr and Leo Holding also of Dougherty. none of them were severely hurt.

At the Kossuth county fair grounds Jaloppy races ended when a 1924 Dodge jumped the track and struck the Kraft car park. Four year old Ronald Kraft of Corwith suffered a broken left leg and his father George Kraft was badly bruised. Driver Floyd Shaeffer of Eagle Grove was uninjured.

Injured Travelers in Exposition Flyer Wreck

Howard Benn Jr 65 died last night at his Tampa home after a months long illness. He moved to Tampa in 1926 and his funeral and burial will be there. Survived by wife Mable son Howard Jr two grandchildren three sisters two brothers and a step brother. Born June 14 1876 son of Horatio Benn of Ainsworth he once cashiered in a Kalona bank and served in the state legislature.

Soule Given Life For Slaying 19 year old Clarice Rankin
Keokuk Iowa September 29 John Franklin Soule 27 of Wayland Missouri pleaded guilty before Judge James Burrows and received life imprisonment for the murder of 19 year old Clarice Rankin. The state sought first degree murder with life term in lieu of death after Soule reportedly admitted firing a 12 gauge shotgun when Rankin refused to date him.
