Golden Wedding of Mr and Mrs George Auld Celebrated
Large crowd gathered at the Aulds home on South Marion street to celebrate their fifty years of marriage. Mr and Mrs Auld, both native to Harrison county Ohio, were wed Sept 28 1847. They moved to Iowa in 1851 and have lived in this county since 1867. Nine children were born to them, five survive, and seven grandchildren bless their family.

Athens Tennessee group touring for Freedman's Mission Board sang plantation melodies in a two hour performance. Rev Cook praised progress of U DP mission in Athens and noted eighty members in the church. Proceeds totaled 108 dollars with post performance hospitality at James Dawson home.
