West Berlin riot police and French troops forced armed East German border guards back across the border after attempts to repair torn barbed wire in the French sector. Start Drive For New Decorations In Washington

Changes in Stations for Iowa Reserve Units
Iowa reserve units called to active duty have mobilization station changes. The 404th Signal Co. will report to Ft Huachuca Arizona instead of Ft Benning Georgia. The 495th Combat Engineer Battalion will move to Ft Leonard Wood Missouri instead of Ft Polk Louisiana. Other Iowa units keep current mobilization sites. all units must report to mobilization assignments by Oct 29 and report home first before transport to stations. Iowa sector commander Ma Calvin Larson announced the changes in Waterloo. The 404th is to move by rail by Oct 25 to Ft Huachuca, a US Army electronics proving ground near the Mexican border.
