Keota Man Severely Burned in Farm Accident
Walter Fagen of Keota is in critical condition at University Hospitals Iowa City after a brush burning accident on his farm yesterday. He suffered burns over about 75 percent of his body from an exploding can of gasoline, tore off his shirt to beat out flames, and was transported by ambulance to Iowa City. He is 73 and a longtime Keota resident, father of Wallace Fagen of Washington.

Budget Increases Sought for Iowa Prisons and Homes

Henry T. Yoder Dies at 95 Kalona Rites Sunday
Kalona reports the death of Henry T. Yoder aged 95 who lived in the area most of his life and died in Arkansas with his daughter Will Schrock of Alma Ark. His body returns to Yoder funeral home for services Sunday at 2 p.m. in East Union Mennonite church with Rev. Dan J. Fisher officiating. Interment follows in East Union cemetery. Yoder was born November 14, 1862, to Tobias and Mary Hochstetler Yoder and had two marriages Katie Schetler and Lena Maust. He was predeceased by a son Arthur. surviving immediate family is Mrs. Schrock.

Fort Dodge Man Sentenced 17 Years for Second Degree Murder
Joseph Culps, 28, Fort Dodge, was sentenced to 17 years in the Fort Madison state prison after pleading guilty to second degree murder in the 1955 fatal shooting of his ex wife Josephine. He was declared insane and confined, later found sane and able to stand trial.

Marshalltown Iowa Samuel McLain 78 was fatally injured when a car struck his bicycle sending him onto the car hood and through the windshield. Driver Mrs Inez Jennins 47 was fined 25 dollars and costs in municipal court on a faulty equipment charge filed before McLain died. He died hours later at Evangelical Hospital.
