Dr Walter L Bierring of Des Moines state health commissioner said postwar Iowa will see higher health standards. In a State University of Iowa talk to graduates he warned that returning soldiers and nurses will demand modern sanitary methods and better community health provisions. Communities must supply well equipped hospitals diagnostic centers X ray and lab facilities to attract top medical talent. He added veterans will need broad support beyond hero worship.

Cedar Rapids Man Critically Injured After Intersection Crash
Cedar Rapids reports show Ben Thompson critically injured after two cars collided at a street intersection Sunday. Both drivers Lyle Anderson and J Max Field deny knowing which vehicle struck him as Thompson was found about 75 feet from the intersection with a punctured side and a mangled leg. Hospital attendants described his condition as critical Sunday night.

Senator Wilson Recovered After Mayo Clinic Operations
DES MOINES United States Senator George Wilson is at his cottage at Clear Lake Iowa fully recovering after four minor operations on September 12 at the Mayo clinic. After two weeks at the clinic a neck operation was performed as part of pyorrhea treatment. Friends say he is in good health and dental work remains to be finished.

Hurricane Hurts Ensign Peters at Keokuk
Funeral services for Ensign Maurice W. Peters 30 coast guard officer from Keokuk will be held at his home. He died during the recent hurricane off the Atlantic coast. Survived by wife Mrs Jane King Peters parents Mr and Mrs William L. Peters sister Miss Mary Joy Peters and brother Max Peters in the navy who fell in World War II on January 10 1942.
