Old Settlers Day Recalls Washington’s Early Days

Yesterday marked Old Settlers Day the twentieth anniversary of the group. In Music hall, once the city’s hub for church, town meetings, and gatherings, speakers recalled pioneer hardships and progress from 1840s to present. Notables Col. Palmer and Capt. Maxwell shared memories. Aunt Polly Ashby and Rev Darbyshire added reflections on schools and religion.

Reeves will sell at the southeast corner of the square tomorrow Saturday at two o clock. The sale offers a wood rocking chair bed sewing machine cart furniture carpet stove and many other household items all to be disposed of at bargain prices. Attend for bargains as the goods must be sold.
