Ottumwa Iowa September 24 Judge Sloan overruled the motion for a new trial and sentenced Stevens to three years in the penitentiary. The case State of Iowa vs Charles J Stevens for attempting to break and enter was postponed for sentencing at 1:30 this afternoon.
Local reports from Kalona show horse traders in the livery district exchanging ponies for watches as Chas Brown from Kalona brings stock from Montana.
