Arson Suspect Held After Sellick Death in Jackson

After weeks of agitation with many prominent participants the Sunday closing movement was defeated by an 8 to 2 vote as the council rejected the ordinance Monday night. Alderman Sheldon the measure’s sponsor faced a boycott threat tied to his role as an American Express agent. The council adopted a resolution condemning personal attacks on Sheldon.
