Reynolds urged a united bank system and Pierson of New York was elected president with Watts of Nashville as first vice president.
Des Moines August 18 The grand jury ignored the case against C B Stradley arrested on a Burlington train at Union Station during the state fair week for intoxication and ordered his release. Officials cited lack of sufficient evidence rather than a flaw in the new statute enacted by the last General Assembly.

Burlington Ia Sept 18 The first National bank of Stronghurst Illinois was robbed of 1000 dollars in cash and valuables when thieves blew open the safety deposit vault. The bank safe was not entered.
Rochester Minnesota September 18 Governor Johnson remains near death at St Marys hospital with his wife by his side and physicians in attendance Dr Charles Mayo said there is a chance he may survive the day and if so his life would be in the balance between life and death all night his condition worsened and friends despaired before new hope was offered by the doctors report
