Market shows slow trading with bulk prices 8 to 8 10 and light 7 90 to 8 37. Mixed packers 7 80 to 8 45. Heavy ship's grades 7 55 to 8 45. Rough 7 65 to 7 85. Porkers 8 30 to 8 35. Pigs 7 15 to 8 16.

Des Moines reports 400 miners at the Enterprise mines return to work after a two week strike. The notice boosting rental was withdrawn and rents revert to $1.50 per room. A joint Iowa miners and operators board will discuss house rent at its Des Moines meeting next week to settle the rent formula.
In Ames Iowa on September 17 the morning session of the Maines Methodist conference heard Rev W H Shipman call for amending church constitution to have district superintendents led by ministers rather than appointed by the bishop. The motion becomes tomorrow’s order of the day and promises spirited debate. Six district superintendents divided their districts’ work as Superintendent Collins of the Creston district reported striking facts about church vitality versus other denominations.
In Oskaloosa Iowa September 17 the King's Daughters convention chose Mrs F J Mansfield of Burlington as state secretary. Miss Sophie B Wright of New Orleans remains influential as state secretary of Iowa and leads a night school for two thousand boys. New officers also include recording secretary Mrs E M Coleman Davenport treasurer Miss Lola Waite Burlington and execute board member Mrs Hinman Baker.
Leadville Colorado September 17. Bandits dynamited the end section of Denver and Grande train No 5 last night. The express was robbed and the robbers escaped leaving a pursuing posse in their wake. The amount of plunder is not yet known.
Logan Sept 17 J A Barr Logan and Vern Van Leoy received a dispatch stating they had been successful in the Idaho lands just opened by the government north of Blackfoot. Details on Barr's entry number follow in the notice.
