McKinley Remains Enter Canton for Last Rites
After fifteen hours’ travel the late President McKinley’s body arrived in Canton Ohio at 11 a.m. and a large procession escorted it to the courthouse. Washington mourned as the funeral cortege passed, with Grover Cleveland and ex secretary Lamont among mourners. The casket lay in the Capitol rotunda for public viewing from noon to 6:30 p.m. with about 55 000 people passing by.
