French Weather Ship Explodes Off Brittany Coast
A French naval meteorological frigate named La Place with 75 aboard exploded and sank near the Brittany coast early today. About 40 survivors were rescued by a rescue ship as operations continued. the crew included five officers, 19 petty officers, and 51 sailors. The vessel was en route from Brest to St Malo for harbor inauguration when the blast occurred. The navy offered no explanation for the explosion.
