The Iowa Supreme Court stayed fines and jail terms for three North Mahaska Community School District board members and agreed to hear the contempt appeal. The stay bars reopening Barnes City and Lacey elementary schools while a final ruling is awaited.
The Senate approved a reform bill 87 to 0 to remove ceilings on federal campaign spending and require public disclosure of contributions and expenditures. Hughes U S Sen Jack Miller and Rep Fred Schwengel along with Lt Gen Lew Walt will attend. Howard and his family arrive Thursday and stay at Hotel Burlington.
