Hanshaw Joins Washington Police Force Amid Resignation
Jerry Hanshaw was announced as a new member of the Washington police force by Chief Kenneth Bauer. Iowa soil conservation group names officers in Des Moines meeting
Mrs. Larry Shalla of north of Washington was named secretary treasurer of the women's auxiliary of the Iowa Association of Soil Conservation District Commissioners during a Des Moines session. Washington County soybean growers voted 28 to 14 to extend the Iowa soybean promotional checkoff of half a cent per bushel on all soybeans grown in the state. Highland area school board races headline wins in Washington County
Janice J Schnoebelen and Roger Schloss won Highland Board of Education seats. Schnoebelen defeated Lyle Fox 113 to 97 for a three year term while Schloss edged John E Spenner 104 to 100 for a one year vacancy. Incumbent Robert J Duncan was unopposed for district 2. Washington School District incumbents won despite write ins. Brighton approved a measure extending council terms from two to four years. Mid-Prairie board elected three unopposed newcomers.
