The Public Health Service reports a second recent loss of a radioactive radium capsule during cross country railway shipment. A tiny one inch long capsule containing 50 milligrams of radium was sent from Seattle to Long Island for nose and throat treatment. Investigators seek a 300 milligram capsule also lost earlier from Fort Worth to Long Island. both incidents involved loose lids on wooden crates and missing lead safety containers.

Ky to run for president if drafted amid Saigon terror blasts
Premier Nguyen Cao Ky announced at his 36th birthday celebration that he would run for president if drafted. The Viet Cong terror wave struck Saigon with blasts injuring a dozen, including four in one day, while the government prepared for elections. A warehouse fire caused $750,000 in losses, ruled an electrical short. Ky outlined a plan for a March election and a constitution drafting assembly, saying he would stand if the assembly selects a path to a national government and asks him to run. Government sources noted widespread death threats against candidates, with no withdrawals reported.

Maguire presides. Faulkner is denied use of Mora's legal argument that the war is illegal. Mora compared serving there to killing at crematoria in World War I.
