Oregon boy 15 drowns at Virginia Lake

Rain ends long drought with 2.17 inches Saturday
The official weather observer logged 2.17 inches of rain on Saturday ending the dry spell that began in August. County extension agent Jim Frier said the moisture improves the outlook for farmers though early corn and beans were likely past their peak. Only about an inch of rain fell here in August, compared with a normal 3.5 inches.
