Costly Newark fire injures fourteen at celluloid works

Fire at the Newark Celluloid works in New Jersey caused about 200000 dollars in damage Sunday night. The blaze began in the converting department and spread rapidly through nearby three story buildings on West Scott Darcy Magazine and West Feery streets. Fourteen people were injured and hospitalized as residents lost their belongings.

Private Kinney's alleged attempted assassination of Colonel Govan

The First Mississippi volunteers report to the war department an alleged attempt by Private J A Kinney of Company H to kill Colonel Govan at Chickamauga. Kinney held the colonel at gunpoint in his tent after taps, was arrested after an attempted shooting of the adjutant, and stood trial at 8 this morning. The regiment is bound for Lauderale Springs on Thursday.

Moral dont drink whisky case shocks New York

A well to do ice dealer John Hills his wife and sister in law Miss Mary Conlin were poisoned by whisky sent to their home. The drink caused a powerful illness within minutes and the sister in law Miss Conlin may die. A second package contained toilet water. Northern Manchester farm struck by lightning wrecking the house.
