Income decline shown by 1967 Iowa farm group records
A Washington County Extension report notes 1967 net farm income for east central Iowa farms fell 44 percent from 1966 to 9 131 dollars per farm. Lower livestock margins, grain price declines, higher costs and larger farm size explain the drop, with hogs driving most livestock gains.
