Don Radda of Washington Iowa set a world tall corn record at Des Moines with a stalk reaching 26 feet 10 inches in the WHO sweepstakes. He earned 100 dollars, with 60 and 25 dollars for second and third. Radda seed produced the top four stalks and a national county contest winner stood at 27 feet 1 1 4 inches prior to drying.

Rationing Head Denies Guilt in Extortion Case
