Car Crowded From Highway In Washington Injures Car
A car driven by Thomas Steven Romine and owned by Hubert S Romine of Brighton was badly damaged Friday after being crowded off the highway by a Red Oak semi driver Max A Miller. Miller failed to see Romine in the outside lane on West Madison Street, causing Romine to mount the curb and hit a utility pole and road sign in the 400 block at 6 20 p m. City police investigated the crash.

Fire damages sale barn in Washington County
Washington County deputy sheriff Willis F. Richards acted quickly after spotting a fire at the Washington Livestock Sales grounds around 2 45 a m today. Firefighters confined the damage to the sale barn offices as Chief Maynard L. Brown noted the blaze began in an overstuffed chair, destroying the chair and a sofa and scorching a paneled wall with substantial smoke damage inside the two offices.

Secretary General Thant told the Security Council that Pakistan refused to assure cease fire along Kashmir while India promised restraint if Pakistan did likewise.
