Noted author Louis Adamic found dead in burning home
Louis Adamic a 52 year old author was found dead in his burning Mt Joy farm home near the New Jersey Pennsylvania line. Police say a bullet wound to the head and a Mauser rifle across his lap were present and firemen suspect arson. The house and kitchen were burned while the upstairs bedroom held the body. The living room remained intact.

John B. Schwegler of Ft Madison claims the record for most convention attendance by a veteran. He says he has served as delegate at 19 national and 33 state conventions of the two veterans' groups, plus hundreds of county and district meetings over 30 years.
