Murdered Adel youth found in Des Moines cornfield
Timothy Hawbaker 18 of Adel was found beaten and stabbed to death after his body was dragged into a Des Moines Southeast Side cornfield. A 1970 Plymouth Barracuda, burned beyond recognition, was found nearby as investigators probe possible links to a July gas station slaying.

Two Die in Keota Area Head-On Crash
Glenn Fuller 65 of Oskaloosa and Gregory Baumert 25 of Keota died in a two car crash on Iowa 92 near the Washington Keokuk county line. Fuller crossed the center line and struck Baumert head on killing both instantly. The weekend toll rose to 14.

Early frost not Iowa crop killer in northwest region
