Six inmates die after coffee spiked with wood alcohol
In Belle Glade Florida on September 3 six negro inmates at the state prison farm died after drinking coffee laced with wood alcohol. Captain Grainger said ten others were ill and three critically. Robert Turner 18 and Leonhardt West 35 helped pass the drink to 14 prisoners. Turner West and two others died by 9 a.m. EST. The alcohol was kept in the prison paint shop.
