County schools begin term with 1907 pupils enrolled

Washington Community Schools report 1,907 students registered for the first day of the 1964-65 term, about the same as last year. Lincoln Elementary totals 480 students, Stewart 446, junior high 456, and the high school 525. Classes and athletic events start on daylight savings time except some districts. Highland 639 students, Mid-Prairie 1,264, Waco 268, with time adjustments noted.

Washington boy 14 confesses murder in father death

A 14 year old Washington boy, just enrolled at Washington Junior High, confessed to shooting his sleeping father, Rolla E. Crawford, with a .22 rifle. He faces open murder charges and a psychiatric examination will be sought. The case recalls the rapid sequence from family dinner to arrest in the garage at 822 South Iowa Avenue.

Viet Nam Premier Khanh pledges two month riot ban

In Dalat Premier Nguyen Khanh, convalescing after recent riots, says he plans to return to Saigon in about two weeks to resume duties.
