Weekend traffic toll in Iowa rises with seven deaths
United Press International reports Iowa’s weekend traffic deaths brought the total to seven, plus two additional fatalities from last week. Among the weekend victims were 18 year olds Larry Wood and James Bissett of Hampton and 62 year old Ralph Nelson near Mount Zion. Others dying in accidents include Foster Russell Wood 57 Davenport Frederick Leafgreen 24 Fort Madison George Mahoney 21 Clinton Jerry Kelly 25 Coatsville and Gabriel Keller 44 Savannah Missouri and David Johnson 74 Corwith.

Boyd B. Smith, 75, died early Sunday at Twilight Rest Home in Keota where he had lived five years. Funeral services are set for Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home, with Rev. J. J. Johnson officiating. He was born Sept 26, 1886, south of Kinross, married Emma E. Simmons in 1913, who died in 1952, and was a Keota drug store operator turned farmer. Survivors include daughter Mrs Leo Graf of Wellman and grandchildren Terry and Linda Graf of Wellman. He was a Knights of Pythias member.

Paul Greene aged 68 was found dead in his Columbus Junction residence Sunday about 8 30 am by a neighbor. Louisa County medical examiner Kenneth R Carrell attributed the death to natural causes and no inquest was conducted. Graveside rites were held at 3 pm Sunday in Columbus City Cemetery with Stacy Funeral Home in charge. Survivors include a son Richard of Missouri a daughter Mrs Barnett of Wisconsin and several brothers and sisters.

Two Cars Collide At North Edge Intersection
A Saturday accident at the Riverside road north edge of Washington left two cars badly damaged but no injuries.
