Eloping couple stopped by police in Rock Island chase
A 19 year old man Phillip Treman and 16 year old Kathleen Johnson eloped from Des Moines County Iowa triggering a 50 mile high speed pursuit through Muscatine and across a Mississippi River bridge to Rock Island where their car crashed into two police cruisers blocking the exit. Treman faces reckless driving resisting arrest and disturbing the peace charges. Johnson suffered facial injuries and lacerations and was treated and released. Police found bullet holes in Treman’s car and said he also crossed federal property at the Rock Island Arsenal during the pursuit.
