Auto crash leaves three Iowa City residents injured
Iowa City residents Harley Richard son 63 and Mrs Mamie Sprine meir 57 were in critical condition after their car collided with a Cedar Rapids vehicle driven by Robert Sweitzer. Richardson suffered a fractured skull and Mrs Springmeir a broken pelvis. Another passenger, Vivian Suep pel of Washington, was cut above the eye.

Tipton Tail Light Fault Triggers Severe Auto Crash
Walter Kneisel farm hand from Powhattan Kansas suffered a severed right leg below the knee, a broken jaw, and other injuries after his car was stopped by Highway Patrolmen Daviness and Grimm for a faulty tail light. Kneisel and Officer Grimm were struck by a rear impact from a car driven by Harold Hochholz of Tipton. Grimm escaped with a wrenched back. Kneisel was hurled 50 feet and severely injured.

Runaway Youths Located in Washington Detained
Tommy Hall and Kenneth Le land both 14 from La Salle IL were picked up by Washington officers after running away last Friday. They claimed to head for Des Moines in one story and Texas in another. A ride near Columbus Junction with James Clark brought them to Washington and to the city hall, then to the county jail. Parents arrived to take them home yesterday evening.

A touch of winter hit Washington with flurries that melted into light rain as wind gusts swept through. Last night’s thermometer ranged from 27 to 40 degrees while Des Moines reported killing frosts along the Mississippi and Iowa saw a 25 degree minimum. Temperature trends remained 10 degrees below normal but were set to rise later. The first Iowa snow mixed with rain and largely disappeared today.
