Forty Escape Injury As Train Wrecks Near Charles City

In Waterloo on Oct 24 a Clipper bound for Illinois Central derailed one mile south of Charles City after two rails were removed. Several coaches toppled from a high embankment. forty people escaped injury while engineer Chevallier suffered minor injuries. Wrecking suspected but no clues found.

Alleged Accomplice in Grand Rapids Fraud Case Identified

Chicago police report Majorie Vinton named as alleged accomplice of Alba Went in a scheme tied to May 1880s fraud at Union Trust of Jamestown New York. Vinton, alias Celia Manning, was arrested in Yokohama and on a Japan bound liner after Kent’s disappearance. Kent, linked to the case, was tracked by Detectives Early and Thompson.
